Finding Internet Resources

There are 3 basic ways to search the Web:

  1. type in known addresses
  2. browse/search web directories
    • sites are collected by human beings and organized by topic
    • also may offer key word searching within the collection
    Academic Info, Yahoo!, MCS - the media and communication studies site
  3. search/browse web search engines
    • sites all over the web are found based on key words you type in
    • may also have a smaller listing of collected and organized sites to choose from
      AltaVista, Google, AlltheWeb
