Using UCAT

Go to UCAT, UTSA Library catalog (https://ucat.lib.utsa.edu)

1. Using the Basic Search screen, search by Expert Keyword for each of the searches (a-e) below. Choose 1 search that you feel is the best search for my topic "bias in the media" and explain why you made this choice:

a. Type exactly: media and bias

b. Type exactly: media and ethics

c. Type exactly: "media ethics"

d. Type exactly: "media ethic?"

e. Type exactly:(media or news) and ethics

2. Select 1 item retrieved by any of the searches (a-e) above that you feel best contributes to my topic "bias in the media." Please write the name of the item, call number, location, and the exact subject(s) that are listed in the item's description:

3. Using the Guided Keyword Search screen, type: media ethical in the first search box. Use the pull-down menus to tell UCAT to find "all of these" keywords and "Search in: Subject." Do all of these hits seem to be relevant to my topic? Where in the items' descriptions did UCAT find each keyword?

4. Using the Basic Search screen search, search by Journal Title to see if UTSA owns the journal called Communication Quarterly. If we do own it, which years do we own, what formats are available, and where is it located in the library?
