Government Documents Overview

Finding Government Documents at UTSA

Use UCAT, the UTSA online library catalog, to identify documents that are in the library collection. To find the document on the shelf, be aware that documents are shelved in all areas of the library including:

• Microforms/Current Periodicals room
• JPL Stacks
• JPL Folio Stacks
• JPL Reference Stacks

Documents shelved in these areas are organized by Library of Congress call numbers.

Some Texas and Federal documents are shelved in the Government Documents area in the far end of the Reference Room. Documents in this area are shelved by SuDoc (Superintendent of Documents) number.

Most maps received from the depository program are located in the Map Center.

Some documents can be checked out, some may be restricted to in-library use only.

Regional Depository
  Texas State Library, located in Austin, is the regional federal and state depository library. The Texas State Library is required to collect all federal documents distributed by the depository program. To date, they own over 1.5 million items.
