Occupational Outlook Handbook

Comprehensive, standardized occupational information in a uniform language to help match the job and worker. Each job is given an identifying number which can be used with other reference books.

There are many resume guides in the JPL Reference Stacks, HF 5383 area of the Library. All offer similar information and examples. The Library also has copies in the JPL Stacks, HF 5383 available for checkout.

Information on local firms is very difficult to obtain; this is the best source.

Peterson’s Job Opportunities
Peterson’s, a well-known publisher of educational directories, publishes guides indexed by major, degrees (bachelor’s and master’s or doctoral), job function (research and development, marketing and sales, etc.), starting location, and industry classifications (such as city and regional planning or health care). It also provides employer profiles. UTSA has guides for business, engineering/computer science, business/libreal arts, health and science.
To see which ones are in the library, log on to the UCAT library catalog , then just type: petersons job opportunities under title.

State Occupational Outlook Handbook

Outlines career opportunities state-by-state, taking into account regional differences in industry strength, overall economic trends, and growth potential. Each state’s top 20 growth occupations is listed projected through the year 2005.
