Tips for using UCAT to locate music recordings and scores:
- Select either the Basic Search: Expert Keyword or Guided Keyword search.
- Click on Set Limits and then select from following options:
- Item Type: Music Score or Musical Recording
- Medium: Sound Recording
("Sound Recording" is much broader in scope than "Musical Recording"
--you may wish to select both in order to maximize your search results.)
- Location: JPL Multimedia Center
- After making your selection, click on Set Limits, which will return you to the search screen.

CAIRSS for Music

CAIRSS (Computer-Assisted Information Retrieval System) for Music is a bibliographic database of research literature in music education, music psychology, music therapy, and music medicine. CAIRSS contains citations to every article published in 18 primary journals, as well as citations from selected articles from more than one thousand additional journals. The database is a joint venture between faculty and staff at UTSA and SMU. Updated regularly. Citations Only
International Index to Music Periodicals (IIMP) via Chadwyck-Healey (UTSA subscription)
Provides full text/image access to 88 international, music-related journals, including both scholarly and popular titles. Indexes and abstracts an additional 300+ journals. Coverage is provided for various types of music: classical, popular, jazz, folk music, and others. Comprehensive treatment is provided for various music disciplines, such as musicology, theory, music education, ethnomusicology, and performance. Emphasis is on English-language material, but nearly twenty percent of citations are for non-English-language articles. The most thorough indexing (with abstracts) is for the period since 1996; less thorough indexing (without abstracts) extends back as far as 1874. Updated Monthly. Full Text/Full Image

Provides citations and full-image access to doctoral dissertations and master's theses from more than 1,000 graduate schools and universities. Abstracts are provided for dissertations beginning in 1980 and for master's theses beginning in 1988. Full-image PDFs are available for most titles published since 1997 and a limited number of titles previous to 1997. Coverage is from 1861 to the present. Print equivalent is Dissertation Abstracts. Covers professional and academic literature in psychology and related disciplines. Contains over two million citations and summaries of articles from journals, books, book chapters, dissertations, and technical reports.
