A general 18-volume Spanish-language encyclopedia published by the Encyclopedia Britannica. 

Enciclopedia Universal Ilustrada Europeo-Americana
Location: JPL Reference AE61 .E6 
A large, classic Spanish-language encyclopedia in 70 volumes.  Lengthy illustrated articles on general topics.  It is considered the world's largest encyclopedia. Commonly known as "The Espasa."  Updated with supplements.

Gran Larousse Universal

UTSA Downtown Library Reference AE61 .G73  
A general 37-volume Spanish-language encyclopedia. Includes a two volume dictionary Gran Larousse Universal: Diccionario de la Lengua Española.

The preeminent indexing service for Chicano, Latino, Cuban-American, and Puerto Rican studies, with a strong component in literature. The Chicano Database includes access to the contents of The Chicano Periodical Index, 1967-1988; The Chicano Index, 1989- ; Arte Chicano; and The Chicano Anthology Index. Citations only

ClasePeriódica (UTSA subscription)
Combines Clase (Citas latinoamericanas en ciencias sociales y humanidades) and Periódica (Indice de revistas latinoamericanas en ciencias). These databases offer indexing to articles, essays, book reviews, technical reports, and interviews published in Latin American and Caribbean journals, and publications focusing on Pan-American issues. Subjects covered include arts, humanities, social sciences, sciences, business, and technology. Articles cited may be written in Spanish, Portuguese, French, or English. Coverage for the social sciences and humanities is from 1975 to current; coverage for science and technology is from 1978 to current. Citations only

  • Many search engines allow you to limit your search by language. 
  • You can also specify the domain (country).   For example in Alta Vista the term "+url:.mx" limits to documents on servers in Mexico. (Check help sections of the search engine.) For other domain names see Domain Names by Country
  • Try entering your search terms in Spanish. 
  • Try one of the Spanish Internet search engines or search directories listed in the sources below.
