Library Home » Services » Borrowing Appealing Library ChargesA borrower wishing to question a library charge first discusses the charge with the circulation desk supervisor in the unit where the item was checked out (see list of phone numbers on right). If resolution fails, the borrower may then make written appeal. Appeals must be filed within one semester from the end of the semester for which the charges were assessed. Use our online appeals form or download and print the PDF version (11 KB, *in PDF format) to submit an appeal. An appeal based solely on inability to pay or disagreement with the fine structure will not be considered. Written Appeals should be as detailed as possible and include:
Do not forget to date and sign your appeal. Turn the appeal in to the Circulation Desk, or mail it to: The University of Texas at San Antonio Relevant Library documentation will be attached, and your appeal will be reviewed by the Head of Access Services. A decision will be made based on the information available, and a written response will be emailed to you within one work week of the date your appeal was received in the Library. If email is not available a written response will be mailed to the address provided on the appeal form. IMPORTANT: Amounts of library fines are established by Library policy. Appeals based solely on the amount of money charged will be denied automatically. *In order to read and print the PDF document, you may need to download and install the free Acrobat Reader.
